General Director of FC Ufa, Marat Shmakov, announced that the club has formally requested the complete text of the decision issued by the Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU CDC), which awarded a technical defeat to Ufa in their match against SKA-Khabarovsk. The club intends to file an appeal based on this documentation.
The RFU CDC handed Ufa a technical 0-3 loss on Tuesday for failing to appear in the 32nd round of the First League match against SKA-Khabarovsk. The game was scheduled for Sunday with a start time of 10:00 Moscow time but did not take place because Ufa was unable to fly to the match due to the closure of Bashkortostan’s airspace and the activation of a “carpet” security protocol.
“We are currently awaiting official materials from the RFU CDC. The club has sent a request for the full text of the decision to prepare an appeal,” Shmakov was quoted as saying on Ufa’s official Telegram channel.
Shmakov also noted that Ufa’s management has been in contact with representatives from other clubs, who have expressed “bewilderment over the decision.” He hinted at the possibility of a collective complaint, stating that “such cases may affect not only football but also other sports.”
Furthermore, Shmakov denied claims made by his counterpart at SKA-Khabarovsk, Alexei Kandalintsev, that Ufa had refused to reschedule the game. “We disagree with the statement from the general director of FC SKA-Khabarovsk that the club declined to move the match to May 4. Considering all available options and logistics, the team could have reached Khabarovsk by 20:00 local time on May 4,” he explained.
