County Championship live

Tanya Aldred continues her blog from nine county grounds on day two. Expect more from Ben Stokes’ return for Durham, where he is being used as a new-ball strike bowler. The England captain made his first appearance since the Ashes against Worcestershire on Friday, after a stray ball to the face required reconstructive surgery. England’s white-ball skipper, Harry Brook, also made his first county appearance of the season on Friday, featuring in Yorkshire’s clash with Warwickshire.

Liverpool vs Chelsea live

Monday’s 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest extended Chelsea’s dire run – six consecutive Premier League losses, a first since 1993. The World Club Champions can no longer finish in the top five and qualify automatically for the Champions League. There is also a growing risk they might miss out on the other two European competitions entirely, having dropped to ninth after the Forest defeat. Next up is a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool. Scott Murray hosts the blog, with Andy Hunter reporting from the ground.

**Championship play-off semi-final – 12.30pm**

Middlesbrough vs Southampton live

Tonda Eckert’s Southampton are in strong form, having gone 19 league games unbeaten to climb to fourth. Their late surge nearly broke into the top two. Middlesbrough’s automatic promotion hopes faded after winning just two of their final 10 games. However, Southampton lost 4-0 at Teesside in January, so Eckert knows the challenge Kim Hellberg’s side poses. With the second leg at St Mary’s on Tuesday night, a draw away from home would be a respectable result for Saints. Billy Munday covers the blog, with Louise Taylor at the Riverside.

**Women’s Six Nations – 2pm**

Italy vs England live

The Red Roses juggernaut shows no signs of slowing, but Italy are moving in the right direction. Le Azzurre have cut the losing margin from 74 points in 2022 to 33 in 2025. After losing their first two tournament matches to France and Ireland, Italy thumped Scotland 41-14 last time out. England, meanwhile, extended their winning streak to 36 with a 62-24 victory over Wales in round three. Ellie Kildunne returns to the left wing in Parma, Emma Sing is restored at full-back, and Mia Venner earns her fourth cap on the right wing. Zoe Harrison replaces Holly Aitchison at fly-half. Lee Calvert hosts the blog, with Sarah Rendell reporting.
